Grab Bag vol. 9
There was a dying gecko at the vacation rental in Hawaii. Maybe he was old, maybe he was sick. When he eventually died, we gave him a proper burial at sea (on a leaf). I don’t know what proper burial rites are for geckos but may you have lived a good life little dude.
Speaking of a vacation rental in Hawaii - I was in Hawaii last month! It is always a treasure to get to travel with my friends and I know this. A few photos below. I took the X100T which is a fixed-lens camera, and I regret this. Maybe I’ll come around to some of my photos and I’ll share more.
The reason I brought the X100T instead of my bigger camera is because I found an affordable underwater housing for it. I will definitely share some photos from the few shoots I did with it, because I kind of love them. Unfortunately the housing started to fail towards the end of the trip. I either need to repair it, or spend real money for a real one, because I want to do more of this. More on that later though.
Instead of a fun lighthearted beach read, I spent Hawaii reading a philosophy book about sad feelings: Night Vision by Mariana Alessandri. I highly recommend it. Even if you’re not a melancholic like yours truly, you may find it useful; either in understanding others in your life, or understanding your own emotions when pain and suffering eventually finds you next. It will- it’s part of life.
